THE FILM

Mato Grosso is an epic story of love, sacrifice, and redemption set against the striking backdrops of the Gulf War, the vast Amazon rainforest, and the brush country of south Texas.

John Cain Carter, a former soldier hardened by war, finds himself at a crossroads when he meets Kika, the bold and capable daughter of a Brazilian rancher. Their connection sparks a love that draws him south to the uncharted frontier of Mato Grosso, where they begin building a life together on Fazenda Esperança (Hope Ranch). But their idyllic world is soon threatened by rampant corruption, environmental devastation, and the violence of those who seek to exploit the land for quick profit.

John is a man torn between his upbringing in Texas, his sense of honor, and his instincts as a soldier. As he fights to protect the ranch and the people around him, he walks a razor's edge, teetering dangerously close to justifying fighting evil with evil. His journey becomes a moral battleground as he struggles against the forces of greed and destruction that threaten everything he holds dear.

Through Kika’s unwavering love and support, John finds a way to channel his pain, anger, and skill into something greater. Rather than succumbing to vengeance, he becomes a force for good, creating opportunities for those who have been denied the chance to do what is right. Together, John and Kika inspire an entire region to resist the destructive systems that have held them captive and fight for a better future—one rooted in integrity and hope.

As the world around them burns — both literally and figuratively — John must confront his deepest fears and hardest truths. The fight is no longer just a fight for survival but a fight for the soul of the land, the family he loves, and the man he wants to become.

Mato Grosso is a sweeping, emotionally charged tale of a man who must risk everything to preserve what truly matters. It is a story of resilience, redemption, and the transformative power of love in the face of overwhelming odds.
